The Foyle Valley Railway Museum was opened in 1989 by Derry City Council in conjunction with the North West of Ireland Railway Society to recount the narrative of Derry’s railroads. Today Derry is adjusted by one railroad line which ends at the Waterside Station, yet in 1900 four different rail systems worked all through the City. These systems joined Derry to Dublin, Belfast and north and south Donegal with the recent trains running on a slender gage framework. The trains were connected over the River Foyle by the lower deck of the Craigavon span, whilst activity utilized the top deck. The historical center is found a large portion of a mile from the extension, on the Cityside at the Letterkenny Road.
