The Institute is part of the University of Birmingham and has a small but relevant collection of paintings, engravings, prints, drawings and European sculpture artists like; Whistler, Gainsborough, Gauguin, Picasso Bellini, Degas, Monet, Poussing, Turner, Holbein and Van Gogh.
The Barber Institute of Fine Art is located in one of the finest Art Deco buildings in the city, opened by Queen Mary in 1939. The institute 5 kilometres away from the city centre to get there you need to take bus number 61, 62 or 63 in down-town. Entry to the museum is free.
